In recent years, the practice of aromatherapy has become increasingly popular. But along with that something else has quietly crept in.
We start seeing things like:
“Energy oils”? “Wealth-attracting blends” ? Using scent to “read destiny”? Even the intervention of essential oil cards, frequency claims, spiritual activation and others that I may not have come across.
And slowly, what was created for natural healing is turning into something else.
Essential oils are extracted from natural plants consists of natural chemical compounds which give benefit to the plant itself and us. It is nature interacting with our body. They can support sleep, relaxation, emotional calming, respiratory comfort, digestive ease, skin recovery and support the immunity.
They work through the olfactory system affecting the limbic system, thus support our emotion, hormone and memory. They also work through the skin by absorption into circulation and support our organs.
This is aromatherapy, not mystical arts.
However, many people are treating NATURAL essential oils as having SUPERNATURAL effect. Let us make this clear.
Nature comes from what God has made, works in the body as He designed, and supporting our healing. Supernatural favor comes from God Himself. It cannot be controlled, bought, or activated by anything. It is a blessing freely received through intimacy, not exchanged with rituals.
When we assign spiritual power to physical objects, we cross into something else that is not even supernatural, it is simply SUPERSTITIOUS.
Essential oils become counterfeit spiritual tools when we believe,
– This oil can change my destiny
– This blend can attract wealth or luck
– This scent can shift my spiritual state or energy field
– I can “activate” something beyond the natural
This is no longer aromatherapy.
This is spiritual substitution, again SUPERSTITION.
Not everything “spiritual” is from God, and not everything “natural” should be given spiritual meaning.
You may ask, did the ancients not use oils for Anointing or Worship in the Bible?
Yes, but the oil itself was never the source of power. It was always God who heals, God who consecrates and God who moves! The oil was symbolic. The spiritual power was never in the oil, but God Himself.
Essential oils are beautiful. They are part of creation designed and given by God, for beneficial purposes.
It is important that we use them for what they are, a tool to support the body, gentle comfort for the mind and beautiful reminder of the gift from God. This is because the moment we replace the truth with something else, even seemingly harmless, we unknowingly step into falsehoods and deception not grounded in the truth.
